Help with cores
I have a x9 pro game stick. I can see the files in the SD card and add more roms but I can't find the cores. Does anyone know how to access the cores folder so I can add new cores for retroarch? They are usually .so files.

Hello. I suppose you're referring to libretro cores The cores are usually in a folder called /cores on a partition called STORAGE. The partition (or filesystem) is a Linux EXT4 type. So, you can use Linux OS such as Ubuntu or Mint, or use the program DiskGenius or use another program that can read/write a EXT4 filesystem partition type. I wrote a link below and attached a sample photo that will help you.

However, there are technical aspects and requirements for adding some cores. I don't know details about that. So, consult the official Wiki and Forums for more information.

Emuelec solo es compatible con algunos sistemas retro,tendrias que consultar la wiki de Emuelec para ver que nucleos puedes agregarle.

Lo que tengo entendido es que Sega Saturn solo podria emularse a partir de la version Emuelec 4.4 con el chip S905X2,es decir,desde un tv box con Amlogic S905X2.En resumen,emuelec solo llega hasta PSP,Dreamcast,N64,y Sega Saturn con el chip S905X2.
Lo que tambien podrias hacer es conectar la gamestick a internet,y desde Retroarch actualizar los Cores.Para eso tendrias que usar un adaptador usb wifi y un HUB donde conectar el adaptador wifi y el usb dongle de los gamepads.
Si no dispones de un adaptador USB wifi,podrias intentar hacerlo manualmente con el software Diskgenius Pro,(el que te ha mostrado @pitabreadultra en la captura de pantalla) y colocar en la ruta STORAGE/core estos core para Emuelec 4.3 que el uploader GalisteoGames ha subido a Internet archive,pero ten en cuenta,que es para EMUELEC 4.3,puedes probarlo y nos cuentas,mucha suerte
Thank you both for your help. Unfortunately, when I mounted the ext 4 storage of the micro SD card, it said it had write protection so I was unable to add new cores. I will get a wifi USB and see if I can connect to the Internet and update the cores through the game stick.

Ok. Be sure to always make a complete backup of your SD memory card using a PC before modifying any data on the card. You can open this link and follow the instructions or find a tutorial on Youtube (in English or another language). https://retrogamesticks.info/wp/2025/11/23/117
If you use good quality adapter or reader device for SD cards and use the program DiskGenius Professional, then you will able to modify data on the card without any problems.
A Realtek 802.11N or 802.11AC USB Wifi adapter and a 3 ports USB hub can work well on small game consoles that run EmuElec. The older models of Wifi adapters tend to work better because the chinese game sticks and consoles are using old technology as well.

Thank you. I didn't want to pay for the full version of disk genius and tried using ex2 manager but that was where it has the write protection message.
I will try that wifi adapter and let you know how it goes. The reason I want to add a new core is so I can play NBA jam te rewind(with Michael jordan) and it only works with mame 2003 xtreme.

I just now noticed that Ivan uploaded a collection of cores to his page on The Internet Archive, and MAME xtreme is in that collection. If any page or file is blocked on The Internet Archive then be sure to Login to the site and use a download manager program.
